Powder River Basin Railfan Trip

Wyoming is home to one of the most interesting railroad experiences I have ever had. Powder River Basin is the location of the Orin Sub which is a joint owned four track main running north south between Douglas and Gillette. Over 100 trains a day service the open pit coal mines. Names like Black Thunder and Antelope are but a few. UP enters and exits from the south and BNSF enters and exits from the north. Click to enlarge photos.

Those would be the coal drags (full or empty, depending on direction) I saw going through Rochelle and Galesburg, back when I was going to that neck of the woods a lot.
