RUSSEL ROAD FARM: CRAFTSMAN STRUCTURE PHOTO ESSAY:
For the last 8 years I passed this farm on Russel Rd. Every year it looked like the barns would soon fall down. So I finally got my camera and took a closer look. What caught my eye was the use of shakes on the weather side (West) as extra protection from the prevailing storms. There were a number of techniques used for each part of the structures and great little details around the windows and doors. The roof had seen better days but this just added to the scene. This was something to share with the finescale structure builders on the railroad line forum: inspire some kitbashing and or scratchbuilding. The 1900 built structures have weathered so nicely and it was great to capture them in this aged state. These farm structures would look great on any model railroad.
